Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
that saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.
Incredibile grazia! quanto dolce è il suono,
che ha salvato un peccatore come me!
Ero perduto, ma ora sono trovato,
ero cieco, ma ora vedo.
Fu la grazia che insegnò al mio cuore a temere
e la grazia che alleviò le mie paure;
quanto preziosa apparve quella grazia
nel momento in cui cominciai a credere!
Quando saremo stati là diecimila anni,
luminosi come il sole,
non avremo giorni meno per lodare Dio
di quelli in cui cominciammo.
