John Cornish – Testo di Philips Brooks (1835-1893)
O little town of BethlehemHow still we see thee lieAbove thy deep and dreamless sleepThe silent stars go byYet in thy dark streets shinethThe everlasting lightThe hopes and fears of all the yearsAre met in thee tonight
How silently the wondrous gift is given
So God imparts to humas hearts
The blessing of His heaven
O morning stars togetherProclaim thy holy birthAnd praises sing to God the KingAnd peace to all on earth
o holy Child of Bethlehem
descend to us today, we pray,
Cast our sin and enter in
Be born in us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, our Lord Emmanuel!
O piccola città di Betlemme
Che appari calma e distesa
Sul tuo sonno profondo e senza sogni
Passano le stelle silenziose
Eppure nelle tue strade buie
Risplende La luce eterna
scendi a noi oggi, ti preghiamo,
Getta il nostro peccato ed entra
Nasci in noi oggi
Ascoltiamo gli angeli di Natale
che proclamano a buona novella
Vieni a noi, nostro Signore Emmanuele!
