As torrents in summer, half dried in their channels,
suddenly rise, thò the sky is still cloudless,
for rain has been falling far off at their fountains;
So hearts that are fainting grow full to òerflowing,
and they that behold it marvel, and know not
that God at their fountains far off has been raining!
Come i torrenti d’estate, rinsecchiti nei loro alvei,
improvvisamente si gonfiano, sebbene il cielo sia terso,
perchè la pioggia è caduta ben lontano alle loro sorgenti;
così i cuori che stanno morendo si colmano fino a traboccare
e non credono al miracolo, e non sanno
che Dio, ben lontano, è piovuto alle loro sorgenti!
